How to compress / uncompress files in SSIS using Compression Task

Introduction

In this guide, we’ll demonstrate how to compress one or more files using our tool.

Prerequisites

  • SSIS PowerPack: Download and install the ZappySys SSIS PowerPack from this site.

Steps

First, drag and drop our Compression task inside the Control flow

Compress File(s) - Create a single archive (one for all)

Compress one or more files into a ZIP file format.

Note: This option exclusively works for ZIP format.

Compress File(s) - Create multiple archives (one for each)

Compress each file individually in its zip/gzip format.

In this example, each file has a Gzip compression file format.

Compress Files - With folder structure

Similar to the “Compression One for All” option, compress files with the folder structure inside the Zip/Gzip file.

Uncompress File(s)

Select one or more compressed files with the corresponding format (zip/gzip) and choose the file’s destination folder for uncompression.
